In the stillness of early morning, when the world is wrapped in the soft quietness of night, I am reminded of a powerful truth: I am awake. My very existence speaks to a divine purpose—a chance to engage with life anew each day. When asked recently about my “why,” I answered simply yet meaningfully: “My why is because God woke me up, and the devil yelled, ‘Oh no, she’s awake!’”
This response, while lighthearted, reveals a profound reality we often overlook: every day we are granted life is a call to action—a summons to fulfill our God-given purpose in a world filled with challenges and darkness.
Ephesians 5:14 tells us, "Awake, O sleeper, and rise up from the dead; and Christ shall give you light.” Waking up is not just a physical act but a spiritual awakening. With each morning, we have a unique opportunity to bring light into the darkness surrounding us. Our presence can disrupt the ordinary, infusing hope and love where it may seem absent.
When I say that the devil screams, “Oh no, she’s awake!”, it captures the truth that the enemy fears our potential—he fears our impact. When we secure our identity in Christ and understand our purpose, we become vessels of change, reflecting the light of Christ in a world yearning for hope.
Alongside this divine awakening is the assurance of a battle—a force that opposes our purpose. In 1 Peter 5:8, we are reminded, “Be careful - watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart.” Each day brings spiritual warfare; however, our God has equipped us for victory.
As we rise with intention, anchored in prayer and scripture, we empower ourselves against the doubts and discouragement that the enemy may present. The armor described in Ephesians 6:10-18 fortifies us, encouraging us to stand firm in faith with truth, righteousness, and the readiness of the Gospel.
As we explore our “why,” we must also commit ourselves to living it out. Jeremiah 29:11 reassures us: “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Each day is an invitation to embark on the purpose God has placed in our hearts, whether through acts of kindness, sharing love, or spreading the Gospel.
Every morning, I carry a fierce determination to let my life reflect the God who created me. I realize that today I can make a difference, uplift someone who is struggling, or be a light in another's darkness. In every encounter and each activity, I strive to embody Christ’s grace and truth so that His love can flow through me.
So, when you awaken to a new day, remember that your existence, your unique gifts, and your heart are designed to impact this world. When faced with life’s ups and downs, keep in mind your “why.” It is not just to go through the motions, but to fulfill the purpose God has ordained for you—a purpose that the enemy fears.
As you rise each morning, let this realization resonate within you: God woke you up today for a reason. Embrace this divine calling, and remember—your presence has the power to shake off darkness. As you shine His light and carry out His plans, the enemy might very well scream, “Oh no, they’re awake!” Let that be your rallying cry as you step into each day with courage and determination.
Let us awaken to our purpose, fully alive in Christ, ready to fight the good fight and answer the call set before us. Be inspired, be fearless, and remember that you are intricately part of God’s grand story—an eternal masterpiece filled with hope and love.
